Château Angélus 2019

"LE FLAMBOYANT"

Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé · Bordeaux · Exceptional Vintage

France Bordeaux Saint-Émilion Red Wine

Official Description

A brilliant, intense, almost dark purple colour. The cornerstone on which this vintage is built is its great aromatic purity. Black fruit and wild cherry notes come bursting to the fore, while the oak is already completely integrated.

The attack on the palate is suave, while the smooth, round and enveloping tannins are cashmere-like in texture.

The finish displays notes of spice and menthol together with remarkable freshness, tension, and precision. Château Angélus 2019 stands among the estate's most celebrated modern vintages.

Estate Heritage

Château Angélus is one of the most prestigious estates in Saint-Émilion. Renowned for its combination of power, elegance, and age-worthiness, the estate has become a benchmark for modern Bordeaux while maintaining a strong connection to its historic terroir.

The name Angélus originates from the three church bells historically heard from the vineyard slopes surrounding the estate.

Food Pairing Ideas

Pairs beautifully with dry-aged ribeye, Wagyu beef, lamb rack, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, mature Gouda, and rich French cuisine.

Serving Recommendations

Serve at 16–18°C. Decant for 2–3 hours when young. The wine is approachable today but will continue to evolve beautifully over the next three decades.

Cellaring Potential

Drink from 2026 onward. Peak maturity is expected between 2030 and 2055, with exceptional longevity thanks to the outstanding balance of fruit, structure, freshness, and Cabernet Franc character.

Why We Love It

The 2019 Château Angélus captures everything collectors admire about modern Saint-Émilion: power without excess, concentration without heaviness, and elegance without compromise. It is one of the finest vintages produced by the estate in recent decades and a standout wine for both enjoyment and long-term cellaring.
