The second release in the limited annual series continues to draw inspiration from our deep rooted connection to the natural world. Each release in the collection unveils distinctive packaging that incorporates organic by-products and gives them new life.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Inspired by Intense Arabica will be available via The Macallan Online Boutique and in premium retailers, bars and restaurants around the world from October 2022.
A SENSORY JOURNEY
This special single malt is inspired by the Ethiopian Arabica bean. Ethiopia is claimed to be the birthplace of coffee as the Arabica bean was the first species of coffee to be cultivated.
With a distinct coffee flavour, this whisky exudes notes of espresso, dark chocolate and sweet oak. The intensely flavoured single malt invites you to immerse yourself in a sensory journey through flavour and aroma.
THE PROCESS
The Harmony Collection is a limited annual release series inspired by our inherent curiosity, and our innovative and creative mindset. The Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner hosted a masterclass with world renowned coffee masters to explore the process from field to cup.

THE PAIRING RITUAL
~ It's Coffee Time at The Macallan ~
AT HOME PAIRING RITUAL
There are five steps to creating the perfect multi-sensory Inspired by Intense Arabica tasting experience at home.
1. Where possible source Harrar and Guji coffee beans, otherwise use any two varieties of ground coffee.
2. Prepare the cupping apparatus; a serving glass and coffee cups.
3. Brew the two varieties of coffee separately. Pour in individual cups.
4. Enjoy your dram, whilst you sip on the different coffee types and appreciate the unique tasting notes present.
5. Pair with salted popcorn and enjoy alongside your dram of Inspired by Intense Arabica and carefully selected coffee types.
POPCORN PAIRING
In an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, popcorn is served alongside coffee as part of a social and cultural ritual. To enhance the magic of the drinking experience, the pairing is enjoyed communally. In this case, the two coffees are paired with either plain or salted popcorn.
RITUAL HUSK COASTER
The Harmony Collection aims to give new life to materials otherwise wasted or discarded. We encourage you to repurpose the already recycled packaging into a coaster made from the box.
- Pour yourself a serving of whisky to accompany your crafting
- Mix all dry ingredients with brewed coffee in a large shallow tub
- Sieve through paper-making screen
- Leave to cure and enjoy the rich smell of coffee
- Remove paper from the screen and hang it outside to dry
- Cut out a 10cm diameter circle from your crafted paper. Draw a 10cm diameter circle on The Macallan packaging box and cut it out. Place the latter on top of the crafted paper coaster.
- Use your husk coaster in your ritual to sit your serve upon.

Espresso, dark chocolate, raisins, tiramisu, blackberry, vanilla, Brazil nut, sweet oak.

Long, dark roast coffee, balanced and sweet.

PRESENTATION
The second release of the Harmony Collection is presented in a gift box made from repurposed and recycled materials. The packaging has been expertly crafted to give new life to coffee bean husks, a by-product of coffee, that would otherwise have been discarded.
Inspired by the craft and key ingredients, the colour red was selected for the packaging to reflect the rich red colour of the coffee fruit.
