THE HEAT IS ON: 1947 Saint-Emilion vs. Pomerol

1947 catapulted Bordeaux wines to legendary status, that few other vintages can equal. The sizzling hot summer, brought about wines that were very rich, sweet and high in alcohol. The chateaus that were able to manage the fermentation process, were able to produce wines that were exceptional - with the ability to age well and still taste amazing even after 75 years, maybe more.

These great wines were mostly from the Right Bank, specifically Pomerol. The 1947 Petrus is actually considered as one of the wines of the century!

However, there was one, outside Pomerol, that stole the show - Cheval Blanc from Saint-Emilion! It is not only the best 1947 Bordeaux wine, but is also one of the greatest Bordeaux wines of all time!
