ARDBEG GROOVES
Ardbeg Grooves was released in celebration of Ardbeg Day 2018, and as ever, the Islay-based distillers have created a most intriguing expression. Part of the whisky that makes up Grooves was matured in red wine casks that were very well-charred, resulting in heavy grooves in the surface of the wood. A mellow though flavoursome dram.

AROMA
The whiskey grooves out of the bottle with a smoke-soaked aroma and a heavy sweetness. It smells intense and strong. Flavors of spicy paprika and white pepper combine with salty notes. Flavors of spicy oak and pine penetrate. Red wine and leather round off the smell of the single malt.
TASTE
Heavy start and a powerful, strong character. Strong smoke aromas and notes of coal and ash characterize the taste. An interesting sweetness of raisins and burnt paprika penetrates. Oak, nutmeg and a hint of red wine are in the background. The Ardbeg-typical salt notes are present.
FINISH
Strong smoke aromas linger and transform into a sweetness of raisins. A hint of red wine remains. In the finish, notes of salt and spicy oak are also present.
