Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2018
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva · Tenuta Greppo · Tuscany, Italy
Official Description
The 2018 Riserva was produced exclusively from a selection of grapes sourced from Biondi-Santi's proprietary vineyards, specifically from the estate's oldest parcels.
Vinified in both Slavonian oak barrels and concrete using only indigenous yeasts from the estate's vineyards, the wine was subsequently aged in Slavonian oak barrels for three years.
This Riserva demonstrates the elegance, precision, and longevity that have made Biondi-Santi one of the most respected names in Italian fine wine.
Vintage 2018
2018 was a relatively cool growing season characterised by abundant rainfall throughout the vine's growth cycle.
Summer temperatures remained below average. Prior to harvest, a week of healthy northerly winds helped dry both vines and grapes, preparing them for picking.
Harvest began on September 16 and lasted for eight days, with careful selection of the finest bunches destined for the Riserva.
Origin
The 2018 Riserva was produced exclusively from grapes selected from Biondi-Santi's proprietary vineyards, including fruit sourced from the estate's oldest vineyard parcels.
Ageing
The wine was vinified in both concrete and Slavonian oak vessels using indigenous yeasts naturally present in the estate's vineyards.
Following fermentation, the wine matured in Slavonian oak barrels for three years before release.

Why We Love It
The 2018 Riserva is a reminder of why vintage reputation can sometimes be misleading. Biondi-Santi itself highlights how beautifully this wine performed despite criticism of the growing season. Elegant, aromatic, layered, and remarkably refined, it represents the timeless style of Tenuta Greppo at its highest level.
