Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino 1995
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG · Tenuta Greppo · Tuscany, Italy
Official Description
The Biondi-Santi flagship wine, Brunello di Montalcino embodies the spirit of Tenuta Greppo and the signature style of the estate's winemakers.
Forged through more than 150 years of history, it is distinguished by its combination of freshness, elegance, depth, and aristocratic personality.
The 1995 vintage is a classic expression of traditional Brunello, showcasing the balance, structure, and longevity that have made Biondi-Santi one of Italy's most revered wine estates.
Vintage 1995
Following a mild winter and a moderately rainy spring, the vegetative cycle began under favourable conditions.
A warm and generally dry summer followed, interrupted by two beneficial rain showers that helped maintain vine balance during the growing season.
The first half of September was rainy, while the second half turned hot and dry. To allow the grapes to achieve complete ripeness, harvest was postponed until October 3.
Origin
The 1995 Brunello was produced using BBS11 (Brunello Biondi Santi 11), the proprietary clone of Sangiovese Grosso identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at Tenuta Greppo during the 1970s.
Only grapes sourced from vines between 10 and 25 years of age were selected for this vintage.
Ageing
The wine matured in Slavonian oak barrels for three years.
Following barrel ageing, it benefited from extended bottle refinement, allowing the wine to develop additional complexity, harmony, and elegance over time.
