Château Giscours 2014

Margaux 3ème Grand Cru Classé 1855 2014 Vintage 70% Cabernet Sauvignon French Oak

Official Description

Château Giscours 2014 is a Grand Vin from Margaux and a 3ème Grand Cru Classé in the historic 1855 Classification of Bordeaux.

The estate describes 2014 as a beautiful vintage, shaped by a mild winter, a warm summer with regular rainfall and an Indian summer beginning in September that allowed the grapes to reach favourable maturity.

Cabernet Sauvignon drives the vintage, bringing density and complexity together with a concentrated and precise finish. Petit Verdot adds substance to the blend.

The resulting wine is balanced, deep and structured, with silky tannins and the long, precise finish characteristic of a great Médoc wine.

The 2014 Vintage

Château Giscours describes 2014 as a particularly successful growing season. A mild and rainy winter was followed by a warm summer punctuated by rainfall.

From the beginning of September, an Indian summer brought favourable conditions that allowed the fruit to reach ideal maturity before harvest.

Harvest took place from 22 September to 16 October 2014.

BBPH Serving Suggestions

Serve at approximately 16–18°C. For a mature classified-growth Bordeaux such as the 2014, gentle decanting may help separate any natural sediment and allow the wine to open gradually.

BBPH Pairing Suggestions

Pair with roast beef, lamb, duck, beef tenderloin, grilled or braised meats, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses.

Why We Love It

Château Giscours 2014 combines the structure and depth expected of a classified-growth Margaux with the balance and silky tannins that define this successful vintage.

Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its density and precise finish, while the unusually substantial 10% Petit Verdot component adds further weight and character to the blend.
