With an intense ruby red color, Mille e Una Notte 2019 presents a complex bouquet characterized by notes of blackberries and current, fresh balsamic hints, spicy scents of black pepper and delicate nuances of sweet toasting. On the palate it is wide with velvety tannins. It ends with notable persistence and captivating sapidity.

At Contessa Entellina, where Donnafugata comes from

In the settings of the Gattopardo

In the heart of western Sicily - among the hills of Contessa Entellina, between 200 and 500 m a.s.l. - lie the vineyards Donnafugata comes from. The climate is Mediterranean, with rain concentrated during the autumn and winter months, dry and breezy summers, with a great range of air temperature variations between day and night. The soils are predominantly medium-clayey, but vary according to the peculiarities of the individual districts.

Italian wine excellence

Produced from the best grapes of the year, Mille e una Notte best expresses the company's tailor-made wine-making process. Following the careful manual harvest of the grapes, a further selection of the bunches and grapes is carried out on the vibrating table. A latest generation destemmer is then able to select the best grapes and discard the green and overripe ones. Fermentation in steel tanks with maceration on the skins for about 14 days, our wine then ages in French oak barrels and a long period in bottles.

Between tradition and innovation

Mille e una Notte was born from Giacomo and Gabriella's dream of creating a wine that would be unique on the Sicilian wine scene. A dream that became reality thanks to the consultation of the oenologist Giacomo Tachis, together with whom Giacomo Rallo gave life to the blend of Mille e una Notte: a combination of Nero d'Avola and international varieties, an excellent red capable of innovating the perception of Sicilian wine throughout the world.

The palace illustrated on the label is the palace where Queen Maria Carolina took refuge when she was on the run from Naples, the house loved by the writer Tomasi di Lampedusa. Gabriella captures the image and fixes it in a sky of a "Thousand and One Nights". A tribute to the masterpiece of oriental literature capable of telling a thousand and one fairy tales.
