This 35-year-old whisky from Glengoyne Distillery of the southern highlands makes for an exceptional rare and special single malt. The whisky comes packaged in an wooden case which includes a leather-bound book signed by distillery manager Robbie Hughes. NOSE
The classic Glengoyne apple character is at its heart, with complementary notes of papaya, mango and coconut giving a beautiful scent that can only come with decades in oak. Aged leather, Victoria sponge, dried citrus peel, honeycomb and saffron.
PALATE
A great oily texture that instantly coats the mouth with a burst of fruit. A whisky to hold on the palate for a long time as it keeps developing, with dried fruit, floral notes and gentle spice becoming almost creamy after time.
FINISH
The tropical fruit intensity returns and lingers at the back of the throat while the whisky becomes slowly drier, with liquorice, brown sugar, and dark chocolate beautifully balanced. A whisky not to be rushed!
