The Vision of Krug Grande Cuvée
Founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, Maison Krug set out to craft the most generous expression of Champagne every year, regardless of the climatic variations of each harvest. Krug Grande Cuvée represents the fulfillment of that vision.
Each edition of Krug Grande Cuvée is composed of wines from multiple years, including reserve wines from the house’s extensive library, allowing Krug to achieve a level of complexity that a single vintage could never express alone.
The 173ème Édition
Krug Grande Cuvée 173ème Édition is composed around the harvest of 2017, complemented by reserve wines from several other years stored in the Krug cellars. These reserve wines contribute remarkable depth, balance, and complexity.
The blend brings together the three traditional Champagne grape varieties—Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier—each contributing unique aromatic and structural elements.
Tasting Notes
The bouquet reveals aromas of citrus fruits, ripe apple, toasted brioche, hazelnut, and delicate spice. Subtle floral notes and hints of pastry add further complexity.
On the palate, the Champagne is rich yet precise, with flavors of lemon, almond, honey, and pastry supported by a fine, persistent mousse. The finish is long, elegant, and remarkably layered.
