Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Extra Brut
Clos des Goisses is the flagship Champagne of Philipponnat, produced from one of the most legendary vineyards in Champagne. Known for its exceptional steepness and ideal southern exposure, this historic site produces Champagnes of remarkable power, minerality, and longevity.
The Legendary Clos des Goisses Vineyard
Clos des Goisses is a historic walled vineyard acquired by Philipponnat in 1935. Located in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the vineyard is one of the steepest in Champagne, with slopes reaching up to 45 degrees. Its south-facing exposure allows the grapes to achieve exceptional ripeness while preserving freshness and structure.
This unique terroir produces Champagnes known for their concentration, mineral intensity, and remarkable aging potential. Clos des Goisses is widely considered one of the greatest single-vineyard Champagnes in the world.
Style & Character
Clos des Goisses is bottled as Extra Brut, allowing the purity and intensity of the vineyard to shine. The wine typically features a majority of Pinot Noir supported by Chardonnay, resulting in a Champagne that combines richness, structure, and vibrant freshness.
The wine reveals aromas of citrus zest, white peach, toasted brioche, roasted almonds, honey, and chalky minerality. On the palate, it is powerful yet refined, supported by vibrant acidity and a long, structured finish.
