Philipponnat Les Cintres Extra Brut 2006
Philipponnat Les Cintres is a rare single-parcel Champagne sourced from the steepest section of the legendary Clos des Goisses vineyard. The 2006 vintage showcases remarkable power, precision, and depth, revealing the unique character of this exceptional terroir.
The Les Cintres Parcel
Les Cintres is the most dramatic parcel within the historic Clos des Goisses vineyard. Located on the steepest portion of the hillside, this south-facing plot receives exceptional sun exposure, allowing the Pinot Noir grapes to achieve remarkable ripeness and concentration.
Because of the extreme slope, vineyard work must often be done by hand, contributing to the rarity and prestige of this wine.
The 2006 Vintage
The 2006 vintage in Champagne produced wines of richness and balance. In Les Cintres, the warm conditions allowed Pinot Noir to reach full maturity while preserving the freshness and mineral tension characteristic of the vineyard.
This Extra Brut bottling emphasizes purity, structure, and the singular identity of this remarkable parcel.
Tasting Notes
Les Cintres 2006 opens with intense aromas of ripe stone fruit, citrus peel, toasted brioche, and smoky minerality. As the wine evolves, hints of honey, roasted almonds, and spice emerge.
The palate is powerful and layered, displaying rich fruit concentration balanced by vibrant acidity and chalky minerality. The finish is long, structured, and profoundly complex.
