Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (3 x 750ml)

Tasting notes: Deep purple. A complex array of aromas. It opens with scents of tobacco, dried herbs, crushed rock and dark chocolate. Time in glass unfurls hints of cassis and black plum. Lovely palate weight and texture. Medium-bodied with succulent blackcurrant, black cherry and earthy characteristics. Juicy acidity compliments the savoury dusty tannins. December 2020 Wonderfully fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows black/blueberry, floral, thyme, vanilla and toasted nut characters with a hint of spicy complexity. It’s succulent and supple on the palate with excellent weight and fruit intensity, finishing gorgeously long and silky. 90 points, Wine Advocate Like its partner, the Shiraz, the 2018 Jester Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific value for current drinking. It's less weighty than the Shiraz, appropriately medium-bodied, with fresh, leafy notes layered over cassis and cherry fruit and ending in a wash of softly dusty tannins. 89 points, The Wine Front. October 2020 Varietal. Lean but ripe. Dusty. A core of berried fruit but with dusty, herb-flecked tannin pulling it quickly through and away. A touch nutty too. It arguably needs food or at the least, another year in bottle. What I like most here though is the wine’s overall polish. I feel as though the Mitolo wines are on the up at the moment.
