COLOUR: Deep crimson, bright and youthful but with black depths like my heart. BOUQUET: Mint, menthol and blackcurrant all wrapped up in fancy pants subtle French oak – oh la la! The use of first and second fill sexy French oak barrels may make the bean counters cringe but pays dividends in the glass. PALATE: Soft, fleshy with embracing lingering tannins this is a wine of weight and substance without tending to ‘podge’ – it avoids the dreaded middle aged spread. There is a varietal herbaceousness without being green – the fruit weight is substantial and comforting in this richly elegant red. Consider flavours of Christmas cake, cassia bark and soft voluptuous berries. ALCOHOL: 14.7% pH: 3.43 TA: 7.03g/L
