LAS BEATAS (LABASTIDA)

1.9 hectares in the most northwest part of Rioja Alavesa, where the continental conglomerates of the Miocene are mixed with sandstone and with outcrops of marl from the last period of the Tertiary.

Ten levels of terraces facing east, south and northwest. Old vineyards combined with some young vineyards. Eight, maybe nine, local varieties. Las Beatas is an exceptional site, capable of providing water to the vineyards on a regular basis, as only "grand crus" can do.

Aged in foudre in an old and cold cellar.

Something ethereal in the nose with subtle and enticing aromas of various fruits such as raspberries and black cherries, as well as perfumed flowers such as honeysuckle. Fruit tea and mineral. Medium-bodied with firm and focused tannins that are integrated beautifully with the fruit. Racy finish. It needs about two to four years to come more together and open. Made from a single vineyard of 1.9 hectares in Rioja Alavesa. From organically grown grapes. Best after 2026.
