This emblematic wine is named after Louis Gambert de Loche (1884-1967), the founder of the Cave de Tain l’Hermitage, in 1933, with a hundred of vine growers. A vineyard owner in Hermitage himself, he was a fervent defender of wine quality and active contributor to the Appellation wine system in the Rhône, and in France (INAO). In 1967, the Cave de Tain took over his estate, which has gradually been extended over the past 30 years to reach 21 hectares today and constitute the historical ‘Gambert de Loche’ property of the Cave de Tain. In tribute to this great man, with such a passion for viticulture, a Hermitage cuvee bears this name since the 1994 vintage, made from selected plots within the most beautiful ‘terroirs’ of the Cave’s leading property in Hermitage. The Wine Advocate note: "Inky purple in color, with classic black raspberry and jammy blackberry fruit, cracked pepper, smoked earth and big minerality, it has full-bodied richness, beautiful purity and firm tannin. “
