Bellavista Alma Assemblage 1 is the estate's most representative expression of its winemaking heritage and its interpretation of Franciacorta terroir — what Bellavista calls its “Sense of Place.”

Based on the 2021 harvest, this Extra Brut Franciacorta brings together 86% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot Noir and 1% Pinot Blanc from 60 vineyards and 91 individual selections.

A portion of the base wines is matured in pièces, while reserve wines from several earlier vintages contribute continuity and complexity. An average of 30 months ageing on the lees develops finesse, texture and aromatic depth while preserving the wine's natural freshness.

The 2021 growing season began with a mild winter followed by a spring characterised by abundant rainfall and periods of frost, slightly delaying the awakening of the vines and flowering.

Cooler-than-average summer temperatures encouraged a balanced growth cycle. An intense hailstorm on 25 July temporarily challenged the vineyards, but warmer August conditions, meticulous vineyard work and rigorous bunch selection enabled Bellavista to bring grapes of excellent quality into the cellar.

Harvest took place from 25 August to 4 September 2021, with grapes picked manually into small 13kg crates.
