Cordero di Montezemolo Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2024

Langhe Nebbiolo DOC Piedmont, Italy Nebbiolo 2024 Vintage 750ml

Official Description

Cordero di Montezemolo Langhe Nebbiolo is conceived as a clear and distinctive expression of the defining characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape.

The estate approaches this wine with freshness, youth and immediate pleasure in mind, while retaining the complexity that gives Nebbiolo its distinctive personality. Its more delicate and fragrant style makes it particularly versatile at the table.

The fruit comes from Nebbiolo vineyards in Alba and Cherasco together with grapes from vines less than seven to eight years old within the estate's Barolo vineyards. These younger Barolo vines are harvested separately and reclassified specifically for the production of Langhe Nebbiolo.

Vineyard & Origin

The wine draws on several expressions of Nebbiolo across the Langhe, combining dedicated vineyards in Alba and Cherasco with young vines located within Cordero di Montezemolo's Barolo holdings.

This approach allows the estate to present Nebbiolo in a more youthful and immediately accessible form while retaining a direct connection to the vineyards that also form part of its Barolo production.

  • Denomination: Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
  • Vintage: 2024
  • Grape Variety: Nebbiolo
  • Region: Piedmont, Italy
  • Vineyard Areas: Alba and Cherasco
  • Additional Fruit: Young vines from the estate's Barolo vineyards

Winemaking Style

Cordero di Montezemolo uses a deliberately gentle cellar approach to preserve the wine's youthful and fragrant character.

Fermentation takes place at lower temperatures than for the estate's more structured Nebbiolo wines, with shorter skin maceration and a greater proportion of whole berries during fermentation.

The result is a more delicate interpretation of Nebbiolo, emphasizing freshness, fragrance, drinkability and varietal expression.

Style & Character

Fresh, youthful and fragrant, this Langhe Nebbiolo presents the grape in an approachable yet characterful style.

Its lighter cellar extraction allows Nebbiolo's aromatic qualities and freshness to take the lead, while retaining enough complexity and structure to make it compelling throughout a meal.

The estate specifically positions the wine for remarkable versatility at the table, capable of accompanying dishes ranging from delicately flavoured starters and fish to more substantial meat preparations.

Why We Love It

This is Nebbiolo interpreted for immediate pleasure rather than the extended patience demanded by Barolo. Cordero di Montezemolo deliberately uses young vines, gentler extraction and shorter maceration to reveal a more fragrant and accessible side of the variety.

What makes it particularly appealing is its versatility. It retains enough Nebbiolo character and complexity to be interesting on its own, yet its freshness and lighter touch make it unusually easy to pair across an entire meal.
