Michel Couvreur Cap A Pie Blended Whisky (70cl)

The independent bottler Michel Couvreur was originally a producer and trader of Burgundy wine. He turned to the world of whisky in 1978 and distilled for the first time in Edradour in 1986. At the time, he wanted to buy a distillery in Scotland but his wife was against it and they then decided to settle in Bouze-Lès-Beaune, halfway between Scotland and Andalusia, and to intervene in the maturation of whiskies; mainly in Sherry and Port barrels. The range is very varied and meticulous work of blending, selecting new barrels, unusual techniques is undertaken daily. Since his death in 2013, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra continue the work of Michel Couvreur.

Cap a Pie is a blend of grain and malt whiskies ranging from 4- to 12-years-old. It was matured for 4 years in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry cask.

Michel Couvreur Cap a Pie Blended Whisky uses a high malt proportion, with some Sherry maturation, to deliver an opulent, chocolate, fig and orange peel whisky, with a creamy, nutty finish.

TASTING NOTES

Iodised fragrance with a hint of almond, vanilla sweetness, light floral, white fruit. On the palate nervous but very round with a hint of Sherry. Gourmand and drinkable, it is drunk as an aperitif at low temperatures. The high proportion of malt whiskies make that after tastes become more complex.
