Petra Toscana Rosso IGT 2022
Official Description
Petra is the flagship Toscana Rosso IGT of its namesake Suvereto estate, produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown in the Petra vineyard at San Lorenzo Alto.
The official technical specification combines 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Merlot, creating a powerful yet elegant Tuscan red with considerable aromatic depth, structure and persistence.
Extended maturation in barrel and bottle develops richness and complexity while preserving freshness, savoury character and finely integrated tannins.
San Lorenzo Alto
The wine comes from the Petra vineyard at San Lorenzo Alto in Suvereto, on the Tuscan Coast.
The vineyard is planted on naturally calcareous soils with a balanced proportion of clay and gravel. The soils are well structured and medium deep, while the vineyard follows gradients of approximately 10–15%.
Petra's wider estate is shaped by its proximity to the Mediterranean, with the landscape, maritime influence and complex geology forming an essential part of the identity of its wines.

Why We Love It
Petra combines the depth and structure expected from Cabernet Sauvignon with the roundness of Merlot, yet its Tuscan Coast origin gives the wine a distinctly savoury and Mediterranean personality.
Wild berries and black cherry are layered with rosemary, tobacco, mint, cinnamon and pepper, while long barrel and bottle ageing gives the wine a polished, velvety texture.
It is a serious and cellar-worthy Tuscan red, but the freshness and integration of its tannins prevent its richness from becoming heavy.
