Lafite Rothschild castle

1ST CLASSIFIED GROWTH, PAUILLAC

Vintage 2009

  • 84% Cabernet-Sauvignon
  • 15% Merlot
  • 1% Petit Verdot

After a real winter and its few spring frosts, the viticultural season took place under surveillance: not very productive flowering, permanent humidity favoring diseases, moderately hot summer. Fortunately, September is fine, which allows us to wait for the complete maturity of the grapes, with late harvests.

TASTING NOTES (AT BOTTLING):

Dominant red fruit, the nose remains complex, very straight and clean.
On the palate, we understand the solidity and classicism of this wine. There is fruit, substance, supple and tight tannins at the same time.

“Lafite has a soul, a beautiful soul, tender and generous. Lafite turns the earth into a dream. Lafite is harmony, harmony between nature and man because, without our marvelous winegrowers, nothing would be done”.
Baron Eric de Rothschild

As early as 1815, the broker Guillaume Lawton said of Château Lafite: “I classified it as possessing the most elegance and delicacy and the finest sap of the three [Premiers Crus]. The position of its vines is one of the most beautiful in the Médoc”. In 1855, the Château will be consecrated 1st Grand Cru on the occasion of the famous Classification drawn up during the Universal Exhibition.
