An exciting new vineyard between the tiny hamlet of Malagas and Cape Infanta, at the mouth of the Breede River – called Sijnn by the original Khoisan inhabitants. Perched on a plateau of slate and rolled stones, about 15km from the southern oceans of Africa. The wines were previously made by the De Trafford team in Stellenbosch, but a winery has been built at the vineyard in time for the 2015 harvest.
Tasting Notes
This is the most exceptional vintage for the Sijnn White. Bright gold straw colour. Lovely forthcoming nose of passion fruit, peach pith, lemon, nutty honey and a little salty fennel character. Vibrant, zesty palate with a multitude of flavours dancing across the palate. Piercing citrus, passionfruit and peach skin mingling with dusty spice components. Lovely natural acidity carries the wine through to a long, elegant finish.
Grape Varieties
A blend of 84% Chenin Blanc, 13% Viognier and 3% Roussanne
